AUSTRALIAN ABSTRACT
EXPRESSIONIST ARTIST
Reto Kunz van Angelbeek b. 1969, lives in Jindabyne NSW Australia
Reto’s creativity began young. From an early age he was encouraged by his family to pursue his passion for the fine arts.
He studied art through school, continuing on to study fine art at the National Art School, Sydney. After graduating, Reto was offered studio space at ‘Chroma’ paint factory, Sydney, where he was mentored in painting by artist and ‘Chroma’ founder, Jim Cobb. Provided with ample paint Reto’s creativity flourished and his lifelong journey of creating figurative, abstract expressionist paintings was born.
Leaving Australia to live in Switzerland, Reto continued to paint and exhibit, frequenting Europe's galleries to study the techniques of the forefathers of the abstract movements. Upon his return to Australia, Reto settled in his home town of Jindabyne. This rural, alpine region of Australia provides Reto with a connection to nature, which assists in the freeing of his mind, allowing his subconscious creativity to flow. Reto strives to maintain a personal inventiveness as an aspect in all his work.
Reto’s collection of completed works is numbered in the hundreds and the tap on his subconscious subject matter has never waned. His daily practice of painting has proven to be his solace. Each body of work is interconnected through, colour, movement and shape.
